REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of Bahtsul Masail Institution Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (LBM PBNU), KH Mahbub Maafi, reminds the community that Eid al-Adha is a momentum to permeate the meaning of obedience and sacrifice.
The message was delivered during the Eid al-Adha prayer service at An-Nahdhah Mosque, PBNU Headquarters Building, Jakarta, Wednesday (27/5/2026).

Kiai Mahbub said that the events of qurban began with the story of the fortitude of the Prophet Ibrahim and the Prophet Ismail, who faithfully carried out the commandments of Allah.
According to him, qurban worship is essentially not just a ritual of physically slaughtering animals, but also a form of testing obedience and total submission to the Creator.

“When we quarrel, the flesh and blood of the qurban animal does not reach Allah, until it is our obedience,” he said.
Furthermore, he explained the philosophical meaning that urban must be able to be implemented in the daily life of society in order to foster social concern for mutual assistance.
