Jakarta: Jakarta’s unemployment rate fell to 6.03 percent in the first half of 2026, as the number of employed residents rose by 62,180.

“Jakarta’s employment situation continues to improve, with the labor force participation rate now at 65.48 percent and the number of employed residents reaching 5.2 million,” Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

He attributed the rise in employment to the various job creation programs implemented by his administration, including a labor-intensive initiative that created 2,843 job opportunities across several agencies.

Pramono also highlighted an internship program for high school graduates in Jakarta, which provided 1,000 internship opportunities through partnerships with 107 companies.

Other programs launched by the Jakarta Provincial Government focused on skill development, including the Mobile Training Unit (MTU) program, which reached 2,731 participants.

Pramono cited the rising employment figures as an indicator of Jakarta’s resilient economic foundations.

“Despite volatile economic conditions, Jakarta continues to demonstrate strong economic growth, creating job opportunities and improving public welfare,” he said.
