REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo resigns from office. Perry's letter of retreat has been received by the President Prabowo.
“As of yesterday, we officially received the letter of resignation from the Governor of Bank Indonesia to Mr President," said Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi on Monday (27/7/2026).

Then in accordance with the applicable mechanisms and legislation, referring to the Bank Indonesia Act, Mr President accepted the resignation of the BI Governor. The acceptance of the letter of resignation was accompanied by the President's thanks to Governor BI who for more than seven dedicated years in office.
“Of course, this administratively we followed up with regard to the letter of resignation because according to the mechanism the Kepres will be issued, related to his dismissal respectfully,” he said.

The State Secretary stated that Perry resigned for personal reasons. Bank Indonesia Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti has stepped in as the interim replacement.
Perry Warjiyo was not present at the press conference. Attendees from BI included Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti and Deputy Governor Thomas Djiwandono.
Perry resigned amidst instability in the rupiah exchange rate, which has reached the level of Rp18,000 per US dollar.
Perry served his first term from 2018 to 2023. He subsequently assumed a second term, which was scheduled to end in 2028.
