Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto revealed the government’s effort to reach a target of the established food self-efficiency. He mentioned that the recent government is capable of achieving food self-efficiency in one year.
“The previous food self-efficiency that we targeted would be accomplished in four years turning out we successfully achieve in one year,” said Prabowo Prabowo at the State Address at the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representative Council (DPD) in the DPR Building, Jakarta, Friday, August 14, 2026.
Prabowo declared that Indonesia’s food self-efficiency is accomplished amidst the recent world that is facing a concern regarding mass famine as a result of food shortages and unpredictable weather.
“I can report at this assembly regarding the food issue, the food issue for Indonesian people, we are in safe condition. We are capable of facing the challenges, including El Nino that is considered as the most difficult

Self-sufficiency of 8 Food Commodities The President declared that now the government has succeeded in achieving food self-efficiency for eight commodities, those are rice, corn, consumed sugar, chicken meat, chicken egg, shallot, large chilli pepper, and bird’s eye chilli. While meat self-sufficiency is still being carried out by the government now.
“We have not realised the meat self-sufficiency yet. We will do it in which insya Allah we will achieve it in the next five until six years later,” he added.
