Jakarta: National Police Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto said the handling of the illegal wiretapping case is purely a law enforcement process and has nothing to do with rivalry or particular interests within the institution.
He also asked all police personnel to remain focused on maintaining public security and order.
"Several high-ranking police officers have been arrested in connection with the wiretapping case we are currently handling, and this should be a lesson for all of us. We assure you that this is purely law enforcement. It has nothing to do with rivalry or anything else. It is purely for the good of the National Police, the institution we love, so that we can serve and protect the public, the nation, and the state," Suyudi said, as quoted from Metro TV's Selamat Pagi Indonesia program on Friday, November 6, 2026.
Suyudi also asked police personnel across Indonesia to keep working and carrying out their duties well without being affected by the case.
"We want the National Police to stay united and remain a source of support for the public, and we believe the police are very united right now. All members across Indonesia must keep working well, carry out their duties to maintain public security and order, and always stand with the public, align with our motto: 'Police Together With the People,'" Suyudi said.
Meanwhile, the National Police have formed a special team to investigate the illegal wiretapping of President Prabowo Subianto and other public figures. The team was formed on Suyudi's direct instruction.
"The National Police Chief has formed a special team in response to this information and these issues to carry out an in-depth investigation, led directly by the Head of the Criminal Investigation Agency," said Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, Head of the Public Information Bureau at the Police Public Relations Division, at National Police Headquarters in Jakarta.
Trunoyudo said the special team's investigation will be careful, professional, and in line with applicable laws. The police guarantee that every stage of the case will be handled objectively and with accountability to the public.
