REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The performance of Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriyah prayer at Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta, Tuesday (27/5/2026), carried the theme “Spirits of Sacrifice Caring for Nature and Humanity” which is in line with the Ministry of Religion's major theme regarding ecotheology and the theology of love.
Acting as khatib in the prayer was the Rector of Islamic State University (UIN) Alauddin Makassar, Prof. Hamdan Juhannis, by delivering the sermon titled “Establishing the Qurban Spirit, Caring for Nature and Humanity”.

Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka also held Eid al-Adha prayers at Istiqlal Mosque with thousands of other Muslims under tight security, but remained orderly and conducive.
In addition to Gibran, a number of state officials were also present, among them Coordinating Minister of Food Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, as well as a number of ambassadors representing foreign countries in Indonesia, one of them Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulfattah A.K. Al-Sattiri.
