Jakarta: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has paused its investigation into the Free Nutrition Meals (MBG) program corruption case, with the Attorney General's Office (AGO) to presume the inquiry.
“If there have been any coercive measures, we will not carry out any further activities for the time being, as we are still investigating," said KPK Chairman, Setyo Budiyanto, at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
Setyo voiced the KPK’s confidence in the Attorney General's Office to carry out the MBG investigation competently.
“We commend their transparency; every aspect of the investigation has been disclosed publicly, as necessary for a fair trial," Setyo said.
Setyo added that his office will continue to monitor the case closely and are ready to assist the Attorney General's Office if called upon.
“The investigation is already underway. The Attorney General's Office has made remarkable progress. We are awaiting their findings," said Setyo.
The AGO has named former Head of the National Agency for National Development Planning (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, former Deputy Head of BGN, Lodewyk Pusung, and Sony Sonjaya as suspects in the alleged corruption case involving the mismanagement of the MBG program.
The AGO uncovered the appointment of several unqualified foundations and Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG), which they believe was conducted under the authority of one of the given suspects, driven by the motivation of graft.
The Attorney General's Office (AGO) further suspects artificially inflated prices on a number of goods and services, which has led to notable state losses.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed its investigation on the 8th of June 2026, which was followed by the AGO’s arrest of the former head of the National Land Agency (BGN).
