Jakarta: NasDem Party Chairman Surya Paloh visited the Kraton Majapahit Jakarta and warmly welcomed by the Chairman, retired Army General A.M. Hendropriyono, during a visit to the site.
The visit highlighted the significance of Indonesian history and culture.
Surya Paloh was accompanied by senior NasDem Party officials, including Deputy Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) Lestari Moerdijat, Deputy Chairman of the NasDem Party Central Executive Board (DPP) Saan Mustopa, and the Chairman of the NasDem Party Faction in the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat.
In addition to attending various cultural performances, Surya Paloh also signed a commemorative plaque as a symbol of his support for the preservation of Indonesia’s traditions and history.
A valuable legacy for future generations The Kraton Majapahit Jakarta is a replica of part of the Istana Kerajaan Majapahit, originally located in Trowulan, East Java. The replica was conceived by Hendropriyono, with the goal of preserving the glory, resilience, and grandeur of Indonesia’s past civilization.
Surya Paloh expressed his delight and admiration for the replica, describing it as a valuable landmark for both present and future generations.
He emphasized the importance of human resources and inherent cultural values, stating, “Human resources are more valuable than natural resources. To maintain this perspective, we should protect our cultural values and integrate them into daily life, rather than relying solely on pragmatism.”
Culture as the soul of civilization Hendropriyono welcomed input from Surya Paloh – who is known for his refined aesthetic sensibilities – to further enhance the educational function of the cultural site.
“My focus is on culture because I believe it to be the soul of civilization. I hope to continue refining this site so that the benefits of the Kraton Majapahit Jakarta may be felt by future generations to come,” Hendropriyono remarked.
