Jakarta: Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong reaffirmed his country’s commitment to investing in Indonesia during talks with President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta on Monday, July 6, 2026.
Wong described his discussions with Prabowo as open and productive, noting the two countries’ shared interests. “Singapore has full confidence in Indonesia’s future. We want Indonesia to succeed because our futures are intertwined,” he remarked.
Wong underscored Singapore’s sustained investment into Indonesia over the years, which he said has created companies, downstream industries, digital infrastructure, business opportunities, and jobs for the Indonesian people.
He added that Singaporean companies continue to see significant opportunities in the Indonesian market. BBK and Kendal Industrial Park Wong pointed towards the Batam, Bintan, and Karimun (BBK) region as a prime example of Singaporean investment. “Investor interest in the BBK region remains strong. The area is rapidly developing into a digital hub that has attracted many leading companies,” he said.
Wong also highlighted the Kendal Industrial Park, which is set to expand by 1,000 hectares. According to Wong, the expansion will drive in new investment, create more jobs, and support Indonesia’s economic growth.
Furthermore, Wong revealed that the two countries had agreed to strengthen supply chain resilience by expanding trade and investment to better withstand global economic volatility.
He concluded by stating that Indonesia and Singapore would continue to explore new opportunities for cooperation, a commitment reflected in the signing of 26 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).
