Jakarta: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Indonesia as part of efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations and expand cooperation across various sectors.
“PM Modi’s visit serves as a reciprocal visit following President Prabowo Subianto’s previous visit to India (in January 2025). It reflects the deepening ties between the two countries,” Foreign Minister Sugiono said at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta, on Monday, July 6, 2026.
Upon the Indian Prime Minister’s arrival in Indonesia, President Prabowo, Foreign Minister Sugiono, and members of the Indonesian Cabinet welcomed him at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport.
PM Modi is set to begin his state visit at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. “There will be a one-on-one meeting, followed by a bilateral meeting, and an official ceremony,” Sugiono elaborated.
Foreign Minister Sugiono added that several agreements would be signed during talks at Merdeka Palace, aimed at benefiting both countries. “The agreements will encompass various sectors, including defense, education, health, and technology development,” he revealed.
PM Modi is also scheduled to attend several events through July 8, including a planned visit to Prambanan Temple. “He (PM Modi) will visit Prambanan Temple as part of plans (between Indonesia and India) to renovate and restore the site,” Sugiono remarked.
