Jakarta: Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian awarded outstanding regional heads in Papua. The recognition aims to encourage improved performance in local governments.
“The awards were designed with the intention to motivate regional heads, foster a competitive environment for progress, and highlight the achievements of many outstanding regional heads across Papua,” Tito said during the 2026 Papua Regional High-Performing Government Awards in Jayapura City, as reported by Antara on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
According to Tito, his ministry has prepared an IDR64 billion Regional Incentive Fund (DID) as incentives for regions that excel in four specific categories: poverty alleviation and stunting reduction, creative financing, unemployment reduction, and inflation control.
“The IDR64 billion budget will be disbursed to high-performing regions, and the funds will be transferred to the Regional General Treasury Accounts (RKUD) to be utilized by regional heads for community programs,” Tito explained.
"We hope that in the future, regional heads in Papua will compete to receive the fiscal incentive funds,” said Tito.
He urged regional heads to use the fiscal incentive funds appropriately to improve the welfare of their communities. Those who abide by the rules “will not have any legal issues in the future,” Tito remarked.
