Banjarbaru: President Prabowo Subianto on Monday simultaneously inaugurated 166 Sekolah Rakyat across 34 provinces, marking a significant milestone in the government’s effort to expand access to quality education nationwide.
The inauguration ceremony was held at Banjarbaru Sekolah Rakyat Terpadu (SRT) 9, located within the Social Welfare Education and Training Center (BBPPKS) complex in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, on January 12, 2026.
“As a sign of the inauguration of 166 Sekolah Rakyat throughout Indonesia, by saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this afternoon I, Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, hereby inaugurate 166 Sekolah Rakyat across the country,” the president said, as broadcast by Metro TV’s Breaking News.
The event not only marked the official opening of completed school facilities but also signaled the next phase of educational infrastructure development.
During the ceremony, President Prabowo also launched the construction of 104 additional Sekolah Rakyat, bringing the total number of such schools to 270 nationwide.
Since its introduction in mid-2025, the Sekolah Rakyat program has enrolled nearly 16,000 students and employed more than 7,000 teachers and administrative staff during its pilot phase.
The government plans to continue expanding the program until it reaches 500 schools. The initiative is expected to play a key role in promoting equitable access to education and improving nutritional support for children across Indonesia, from Sumatra to Papua.
